As lead EIA consultants, GoBe has provided strategic advice and delivered technical assessment services as well as overall project management throughout EIA, application and the Examination process for this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). Subject to granting of the DCO, Thanet Extension will extend the existing Thanet offshore wind farm that is located off the Kent coast, by up to 34 turbines potentially doubling the output of the existing 100 turbine wind farm.
GoBe has been responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the EIA and HRA covering both onshore and offshore aspects, along with a wider support function including stakeholder liaison, consultation report preparation, GIS provision and the design and implementation of document management systems. During the Examination phase GoBe was responsible for the coordination, management and submission of all examination material, provision of expert technical input (oral and written) across a number of areas including HRA, marine ecology, site selection and alternatives and fish and shellfish ecology. GoBe also provided a wider strategic management role across a number of key risk technical areas including shipping and navigation, commercial fisheries, landscape and seascape visual impact assessment, and historic setting.
GoBe staff members continue to support the Thanet Extension project and look forward to providing technical, strategic and project management support to Vattenfall and the Thanet Extension team and welcome the contribution that Thanet Extension will make to meeting the UK’s energy and climate change targets.
